Smiles On The Go

Is there a need for mobile dentistry in today's very mobile society? Most people would be surprised to know that there is a great need for this service.

Mobile dentistry and their Smiles program bring dental care to schools in areas where it is most needed. It is shocking to think that 60% of school children never see a dentist. There is never a cost to the schools.

Using locally licensed dentists and hygienists, they bring their program to schools. The equipment is the highest quality portable equipment available. They can perform exams and treatments on site. This program currently serves over three thousand schools in eleven states per year.

Medicaid, and private insurance is accepted. For children without insurance or resources there are full and partial grants to pay for services. No child is ever turned away. This program has been in effect for ten years helping countless children.

Mobile dentists also serve the military in all 48 continental states. They provide exams and care for soldiers before they go into combat.

As the elderly population increases, there is a need for mobile dentists as well. Since 1993 seniors have received care in their homes and assisted living communities. Realizing that many seniors have transportation difficulties and caregivers may have a hard time scheduling appointments, the mobile dentist provides an important service.

While some do not accept insurance, they will fill out reimbursement paperwork so that the patient gets the money directly. They also accept checks and major credit cards. Payment is due in advance or at the time of service.

Mobile dentists can also serve very remote areas of the country where a trip to a dentist can be several hours long. In addition, mobile dentists serve both public and private juvenile facilities.

For those of us who have cars and access to public transportation, getting to a dentist is easy. For those who don't, mobile dentists fill an important need.
